I get asked what beauty products I use and what my beauty secrets are all the time so I figured I would make one giant post containing them all! Here ya go, folks. How to look like a stripper. ;)

★ H-A-I-R ★
Invest in some expensive hairstyling tools. Sorry ladies, this means nothing from Walmart or Target. Go to a Sally’s Beauty Supply store and fork out the cash for a decent curling iron and flattening iron. The difference between cheap vs. high-end hairstyling tools is astonishing, not to mention the fact that the more expensive items tend to last a hell of a lot longer. You’ll be using them almost every night you work so it’s important to buy something durable and long lasting.

Don’t overdo it with the hair products, especially the hairspray. And ladies… if you like to tease your hair, do not go all Marge Simpson, please! I worked with a girl once who teased the living shit out of her hair every night. Not only did it start to break off really bad, she got made fun of by customers SO much. It looked so unnatural (and just plain ridiculous).

Keep your hair in good shape. Get it trimmed regularly (nothing looks worse than a girl who flattens her hair and has super stringy ends). If you dye or bleach your hair, keep up with it. After a while, too much outgrowth looks a bit trashy. Great hair makes a great stripper, I am convinced of this. I’ve seen girls pull a complete 180 just because they got their roots done. Customers notice this stuff, too! And while you’re at it, fork over the cash for some high-end shampoo and conditioner. Don’t settle for the cheap stuff, your hair will thank you for it later. This also goes for protective products like leave-in conditioners or straightening gloss.

★ M-A-K-E-U-P ★
You can go cheap with some of the makeup. Get a nice foundation that lasts all night because you will work up a sweat. I recommend Double Wear by Estée Lauder. I have yet to try a better foundation that lasts all night. When it comes to face powder, blush, eyeliner and mascara, you can go cheap if you’d like. I’ve tried all the expensive stuff before but Walmart products work just fine in this area. Sometimes I splurge a little more on mascara (because I hate the feel of the cheap stuff) but only when I can afford it. Eyeshadow, on the other-hand, is a different story. Invest in some heavily pigmented eyeshadow because they will last longer and you won’t need to apply as much. I have always been a devote MAC eyeshadow fan. I bought all my MAC eyeshadows over four years ago (20+ of them) and have only had to replace about three when they ran out (the ones I use as highlights). They last forever and the colors are amazing. I also spent some money on MAC eyeshadow brushes. I get asked all the time by new girls & girl customers how I learned to blend my eyeshadow so well. The answer is high quality eyeshadows and good brushes! The better the brush, the easier it is to blend (as well as apply). These two go hand-in-hand so don’t short yourself! Lastly, the one product I cannot do without (and will run out and buy IMMEDIATELY when I’m out) is Urban Decay’s Primer Potion for the eyes. Your eyeshadow will last all damn night with that stuff, promise!

If you work in a really dark club, it’s ok to go a little heavy with the makeup but never overdo it. This is bad and this is bad. This is good (this too). Don’t try to accomplish looks like these without first investing in some good eyeshadows & brushes and then practicing… A LOT!

I will be the first to admit that I am a complete and utter glitter WHORE. I don’t care how 90s it is, I love the shit! But as much as I love anything that sparkles, I try not to overdo it at work. First of all, most strip clubs frown upon glitter because it can get all over customers (as well as fall all over the club and stick to other dancers). Secondly, too much can really make you look cheap & like you stepped out of the 6th grade (or a rave). Seriously ladies, too much glitter is lame and you don’t want to look like you got fucked by a fairy. I keep the sparkly stuff strictly on my eyes (and in a subtle way). This is a good example. Don’t do this shit (or this). Looking like Ke$ha = NO… unless it’s Halloween.

★ S-C-E-N-T ★
When it comes to perfume, here is some advice I canNOT stress enough: please, for the love of everything holy on this damn earth, DO NOT BATHE IN IT! 95% of the girls I work with literally douse themselves with perfume or body spray every single time they get off stage or come back inside from smoking. This is so beyond disgusting, y’all. You smell horrid and customers HATE this! Get a nice quality perfume (they last longer and smell better) and only apply them to your pressure points. Do NOT spray it all over your body and on your crotch! Overtime we tend to lose the scent of a perfume we overuse. Just because you can no longer smell it doesn’t mean others can’t! Also — please stay away from the cheap candy smelling stuff as well as anything from Victoria’s Secret. I know, I know… I am a VS fan too but every single stripper uses this stuff. Find something that is unique to you and I guarantee more customers will remember you for it. That cotton-candy crap is just disgusting and I can’t begin to tell you the number of guys I’ve heard complain about it over the years. “Oh my God, that girl smells like my 12 year old daughter!” TURN OFF!

★ S-K-I-N ★
Keep your skin moisturized (no one likes a scaly stripper) but don’t show up to work all oiled up. It’s gross as well as dangerous to yourself and others on stage and on the pole. If you like using moisturizer that is the same scent as your perfume, go easy. You don’t want to reek of B.O. and you don’t want to smell like a Bath & Body Works store exploded all over you but really try to find a happy medium, for everyone’s sake!

Shave well! We’re all pretty good when it comes to our armpits and legs but strippers need to shave their crotches way more often than other girls. While waxing is always an option, I personally cannot stand to let my pubic hair grow out for two weeks. Bleh!! I had some laser treatments done, which I felt was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. However, I still get some growth in small areas so here is what I do when shaving down there: never shave over an area twice (this is a super hard habit to break), always use fresh razors, make sure you’re using pretty warm water and a good shaving cream, and take your time! Now here’s the most important part: go buy some Neosporin Neo To Go! Spray and the second you get out of the shower and dry yourself off, spray this on your crotch (NOT IN IT) and rub it in your skin. One of the main reasons we get razor bumps is because of ingrown hairs, which sometimes become ingrown because the pores can get clogged with bacteria. This stuff kills bacteria and keeps your pores clean so ingrown hairs are less likely to happen. I apply this every time I get out of the shower and I never get razor bumps. Best stuff ever! Also - don’t put moisturizer on your vagina. That will clog up your pores pretty bad.

★ H-A-N-D-S & F-E-E-T ★
A lot of girls I work with get acrylic or gel nails applied (which is fine) but I’ve personally found it a lot easier not to go this route, mainly because we do more dancing on stage than anything else at my club. Having nails break not only hurts, but it’s embarrassing as well! I just like to paint my nails a nice color every week and keep them clean. Save the money and hassle of the fake stuff! It also makes applying makeup, texting and typing a lot easier. Besides, getting “stripper funk” under fake nails is disgusting and will, without a doubt, grow bacteria. Stripper funk can be anything in a strip club: gunk from the stages, floors, even customers. Oh… and on a personal note, this whole trend of the super pointy claw nails: gross. NO stripper needs to have those, period. They’re a danger to yourself and your customers, stop that shit!

Take care of your feet. Stripper shoes are not kind to your toes and can even cause deformities over time. Mine were a wreck after my first week of dancing and it really freaked me out! If you get pedicures, get ready to get them more often. If you don’t, keep them moisturized and clean and rub them from time to time. I’ve heard YogaToes are a good investment.

★ L-I-V-E W-E-L-L / H-E-A-L-T-H ★
Over half of the girls I work with smoke (which is truly unfortunate not only because of health issues, but because it friggin’ smells awful). Stripping can be very stressful and girls who smoke tend to smoke even more at work because of this. If you can help it in any way, try not to smoke when you’re at the club. Your skin and hair will smell and look better and overall your health will start to improve. It’s also pretty gross & sad when a stripper feels the need to smoke every 15 minutes while she’s at work. Again, this is something customers do notice and if they’re not smokers themselves, it’s a huge turn off.

And here’s some tips we all know (but rarely practice at times): eat well, exercise daily, don’t drink alcohol, and drink plenty of water! I could explain the benefits of all of these but you already know them, I’m sure. I can’t stress the no alcohol rule, though. It happens every damn time in my club - a girl finally turns 21 and holy shit, alcoholic over night. Alcohol dries out your skin & hair and obviously destroys your liver. You’re more likely to say and do things you wouldn’t otherwise do if you weren’t drinking and trust me, that is a BAD thing to let happen in a strip club. A sloppy stripper is so nasty. Keep your mind sharp! A few drinks here and there won’t kill you but if you’re having to drink every night you work or you HAVE to be drunk to dance, the stripping is not for you.

However, the best beauty advice I could ever give when it comes to stripping is to live well and not stress (tips on getting rid of stress at the club will be another post from me in the future). This is extremely hard to do, I know, we all have hectic lives but a clear mind and heart will do you wonders. If you’re frustrated, go in the locker room and breathe. Put some silly pictures of you and friends in your locker. I have a bunch of pictures and really good motivational quotes in mine and they really do help if they hold meaning to you. Create an anonymous blog or start a journal and write out your frustrations to get them off your chest. Whatever you do, do your best not to complain to other girls and ABSOLUTELY DO NOT bitch to customers. Happy strippers are beautiful strippers, inside and out. And boy oh boy, does it ever show! ♥

I used to have a decent bunch clients but now I'm losing them one by one because rumors of this dancer is going around doing this or so on while I'm not trying to budge from my morals. It makes me hesitant to step into my club since it seems everyday I see another person walk away >.<

Yes, I suffer from this same problem. Money is so tight lately in my club (as I imagine it is everywhere else as well) so girls are doing whatever it takes now to make an extra buck. And I do mean whatever it takes.

I wish there was some easy way to fix this. The problem is that management doesn’t seem to care much because right now we need all the girls we can get (and they’re probably making enough income to live on comfortably themselves so why change). They can only reprimand bad girls a few times for their actions before they would even consider firing them. That’s what I’ve noticed, anyway. How is management at your club? Would they be willing to sit down and have a talk with these not-so-pleasant dancers? It might not hurt talking to them and just explaining your concern and how their actions are affecting your money.

The only thing we can really do is stick to our guns and not give in to peer pressure. We need to cross our fingers that business will pick up soon but more importantly that decent, well-rounded customers will find the way to our stages and not to the girls who are acting raunchy and disgusting. True gentlemen will always spot the diamond in the rough. We just desperately need more of them. :/

Keep your head held high, girl! You definitely chose the right path to take here!

I’ve also been making it a point to really talk my club up and talk about how most of the girls are intelligent as well as sexy. If they ever bring up the name of a dancer who is pure and utter scum, I just smile and reply “I’m sorry, I don’t really know her that well. The girls I hang out with from this club remind me of myself and we’re just ordinary women who love a good conversation and excellent company, such as yourself! So thank you very much for choosing to sit and talk with ME instead of someone else, I really appreciate it.” Not only does this boost their ego, but it also can change the subject pretty quickly if need be. ;)

Keep in contact with me and let me know how it progresses in your club regarding girls quitting.

Youve been gone a while how have you been?!

I have been out of work for a while due to an ankle injury. :/ I’ve just been sitting at home a lot doing absolutely nothing (which is killing me) but oh well. Just can’t wait to get back to work and make some money, honey! ;D

I’ve noticed there are a ton of Twitter accounts for girls to send their pictures to and then they get retweeted but there are none specifically for strippers. So I made one!

If you’re on Twitter and you’re a stripper, add this new account and tweet me your stripper pictures so I can retweet them to the world and get you more followers/fans! Help it grow - the more followers, the more exposure I can get for you!!

SPREAD THE WORD, PLEASE! Thank you! <3

Before I auditioned as a stripper, I was warned by a few friends and other dancers to prepare myself for the huge array of stupid questions I would constantly be asked on a nightly basis. “Would you go out with me? Can I have your number? Do you do ‘things’ outside the club?” I remember thinking to myself that there’s NO WAY girls could get asked these types of questions all the time. Guys can’t be that desperate!

Boy, was I sorely mistaken.

You will get asked the strangest questions of your life, I am serious. The key is to stand your ground and never falter. If you don’t want to give your number out to people, DON’T (and don’t feel bad for saying “no.”) If you want to build a clientele list but don’t want to give out your personal number, download an app that gives you a free texting number. I have an Android phone and I use the Pinger Text Free app. Highly recommended.

I never date customers. Ever. There are so many problems with this and some girls may disagree with me here but seriously, to avoid drama and future problems, just don’t do it. Keep a customer as a CUSTOMER and make sure they know that if they start asking you out. Make it a point to tell them that dancing is your job and it’s not your intention to meet men at your place of business. I always joke and tell guys I would never date someone who has seen me half naked before knowing my favorite color and what I went to school for.

If a customer ever asks you if you’re dating someone or married and you are, tell them “yes.” Sooooo many girls lie about this thinking it will affect their money but here’s the honest to God truth; if that customer stops tipping you because you’re involved in a relationship, they’re seriously not worth it (and neither is their money). If you lie about it and lead them on, they will definitely come on to you because they are looking for single girls. This lie is going to keep growing until they eventually find out the truth (from you or another co-worker) or you end up cheating on your loved one. This isn’t worth it and it destroys lives & families! The majority of the men that come into strip clubs are there for the show and the company, not to date you. Sure, a lot of guys will ask and joke around about it but I know for a fact that well over half of them will still tip you even if they know you’re involved with someone. You also have every right to tell them you’d rather not discuss your personal life at work. Overall message here: if a customer stops tipping or won’t tip you because you’re in a relationship or refuse to reveal secrets of your personal life with them, they are not worth it in the long haul. This is *INCREDIBLY* difficult for girls to see (especially new girls) but please trust me on this one. Experience has taught me well.

Never, ever agree to activities outside of the club. It’s easy to get wrapped up in the money & compliments & “new girl stripper fame” when you first start, especially when guys promise you things. Trust me when I say they have used that line before… many, many times… probably on other girls you work with, too! You are worth more than any amount they are offering you and if you ever do meet someone outside the club, don’t ever go alone and be sure to tell a million people where you’re going. But I wouldn’t recommend this. Period. Stay a stripper at your club. When you walk out those doors at night, let your stripper persona stay there until the next night you return. “Lily” gets shut in every night I leave; locked in with the costumes, shoes and everything else that makes her who she is, sleeping in the darkness, awaiting my return the following shift.

Some girls go on lunch dates with customers, go shopping, or even go on elaborate trips with them. I have met customers of mine before for lunch and one took me shopping once. But I need to stress two important things: 1) I ALWAYS had someone with me and 2) I made it very clear that I was not doing anything illegal in exchange for money. Both times I did this it was with two customers whom I had known for years. Literally… three years. I would never ever randomly meet someone I had just met the night before. Building rapport is important with me.

I wish more ladies I worked with would stay classy. When I say that, I mean this: truly classy strippers are rare these days and that really upsets me. I will defend this profession until the day I die but the raunchy girls constantly giving the rest of us a bad name are the ones I can do without. Remember you’re a lady as well as a F-A-N-T-A-S-Y to the men you meet. Keep the work at work and your personal life separate. Never throw away your morals for money, ever! I don’t care how much they’re offering you; you’re better than that! Mind your manners, treat people with respect and always, ALWAYS act professionally.

I have seen this profession poison many girls. I’ve seen bright-eyed college students start dancing to pay for school only to drop out later on due to newly found drug addictions. I’ve seen single moms come audition to help support their children only to end up prostituting and letting sleazy guys fondle them in the back for a buck. I’ve seen seemingly innocent young women decide to give this job a try only to end up raging, sloppy alcoholics who end up gaining a large amount of weight because of it. Psyches get broken down, bodies get worn to bits. Stripping is an incredibly hard job, physically and emotionally & it’s sad that it can get under your skin in such a negative way.

If you become a stripper, set your goals and follow through with them; the benefits you’ll reap are indescribable. You can make a small fortune if you are smart and business savvy. Do your research and set your boundaries. Never give in to peer pressure. Know who you ARE and what you WANT.

Girls — be strong, stay ladies, stay classy. It will be worth it in the end, I promise you that.

I have a great internship during the day at a really prestigious wealth management firm, but I need way more money than I'm going to be making there to cover my tuition for next fall. My problem is, I can't have anyone find out what I'm doing. ANYONE. Any tips on being a secret stripper? Also, will this affect my future in wealth management (i.e. background checks)?

First of all, is this strip club in the same town as the management firm you work at? If so, don’t do it. Chances are you are going to run into someone there you work with. If you want to strip, try working at a club about an hour away from where you work. I know it sounds bad (all that driving) but it will be worth it because no one will know you and the chances of you seeing a fellow employee will be slim to none.

Yes, stripping can affect your future BUT it depends on the club you decide to work at. If you fill out a W-2 at the club, future employers may be able to see that if they ever run a background check. Basically, if the club keeps track of all their employees and claim you on their taxes, you are on the grid. If you work at a club strictly on tips only and they don’t require you to fill out any tax forms, chances are you will be safe since the government has no way of knowing you’re there and what you’re earning. However, there is another catch here. Some states require dancers to obtain a permit to strip. Contact the club you are thinking about auditioning at to see if this is required, they can help you through the registration process if you decide to do it. Just beware that once you’re registered, it’s no longer a secret.

Hi there! I've been dancing for a little over 3 months, and finally starting to raise the amount I make a night, however, I know there is so much more potential! I was wondering if you have any tips on selling VIP/Champagne rooms considering the major price difference. Thank you!

Aw sweetie, I wish I could help you here but we don’t have VIP/champagne rooms at my club. We don’t even do real lap dances so I never have to worry about selling anything.

I found these tips online, though. Hopefully they will help:

Tomorrow is my first day back to the club in about three weeks. I feel so weak & chubby now and it almost feels like I’m going in to strip for the first time ever! Ack!! I’m just praying my ankle holds up and I’m not making a mistake by going back too soon. I’ll definitely let y’all know!

I just hope the money is good because I reeeeeally need it. Taking almost a month off from dancing really rapes your bank account. I also know it’s graduation weekend up here so that means a shit ton of intoxicated college students. Yipee! College students here = NO money. :(

Wish me luck, everyone! I am going to need it…

P.S. I’m designing a new layout, hopefully I will get most of it coded in a week or two. I'm worried I might not be considered 'sexy' enough though. Don't get me wrong--I think I'm totally sexy and I feel sexy. However, most people usually describe me as 'cute' or 'adorable', because I'm only 4'10". I'm curvy--great hips and thighs that match my bust. Also my boobs are natural thus they are not the same size (one's about a C or D cup and the other is DD, it's noticeable). I also have dreads.

First of all, if you have the confidence, that is a major plus. Confident girls make way more money that super shy ones.

Hmm, regarding the boobs: to be quite honest, if they are truly that noticeable, you might have some issues with nasty remarks from customers as well as the girls that work there. It’s an unfortunate thing but dancers will look for other flaws in girls, especially if they feel threatened by newcomers. Customers will just be rude no matter what and if they’re drunk, it will only get worse. If you can take the mean comments, I’d say go ahead and try.

Every guy in a strip club has his own preference when it comes to girls’ looks, including their hair. I’ve only worked with one girl who had dreads and to be 100% honest with you, she didn’t do very well money wise. The only guys that would tip her were your typical stoners who never really come in with any money anyway. However, if you can make it a point to be pleasant and talk to every customer, you may not have a problem. Pretty soon they’ll see how funny & smart you are and nothing else will really matter. BUT… let me remind you that this IS an industry based (at first) on looks and you really need to market yourself and your body image. You might have to work a little harder but if you’re up for the challenge, you shouldn’t have any problems.

I think you will know within the first month or two of stripping just how well you might do in the industry.

hello! I have a slightly random question... do you take all your stacks of cash to a bank? and if so is that weird at all? or was it weird at first?! haha I was just thinking about that & not quite sure how that works (: thanks!!!!

I do my best to never take large stacks of ones to the bank, that can just get annoying! I try to cash in most of my ones at work for bigger bills. I also never take my money inside the bank to deposit it. I don’t know if it’s just because I’m lazy or what but I find it easier to deposit everything via the drive-up tellers. Sometimes it’s a little difficult stuffing all that money in the tube, lol! Buuuuut, it does save you the embarrassment of going inside with a crap ton of bills and having people ask you “oh wow, what do YOU do for a living?!”

I also had a bank employee ask if was a drug dealer once. NOT amused. >:p

What Has Happened To Tumblr?

Wow, Tumblr has changed so much, it’s almost sickening. I have a private Tumblr account I registered in October 2007, only seven months after Tumblr first launched. Needless to say, it was NOTHING like this for the longest time.

I’m still trying to figure out how a picture of a fuckin’ BEER BOTTLE can have over 16,000 reblogs. Are you people serious?! Or how pictures of vodka bottles, Victoria’s Secret panties or some girl’s badly bleached blonde hair extentions can get over 100,000 likes! I mean… WHAT?

It’s true I’ve reblogged my fair share of really pointless pictures (as well as liked them) but seriously, I’m making a promise tonight to myself to cut back on that as much as possible. My dashboard is just a clutter of blonde chicks, porn, liquor bottles, name brand shit, anorexic girls, follow-back posts, etc.

I’m just wondering… do people use Tumblr for actual BLOGGING anymore? Like we used to back in 2007? Or do none of you have anything interesting to actually SAY so you just keep reposting other peoples’ pictures?

I realize this post might piss off a lot of people but I’m not about to apologize for it. I just need to go through my friends list and remove a bunch of people. I started this blog to share my stripping stories and that is what I intend on doing. To each their own.

To the people who have added me because of pictures *I’ve* posted: thank you. I don’t know how many more I will post (unless they’re stripper related and I’d like to post more pictures from my club) but I hope you will stick around and read my stories because I promise you they’re going to be more interesting than pictures of beer bottles or chicks partying.

I’m also going to start looking for stripper sites that are actually BLOGS so I can link to them. I’d like to make a list of interesting reads for others who originally came to Tumblr looking for real blogs like I did. So if you’re a dancer and you have a blog with actual content and written posts, please get a hold of me. I want to advertise for you and put you out there as girls who are actually sharing their stories. I’d have to say that at least 70% or more of your overall posts need to be stripper related. Thank you!

Photo
